Record-Breaking Excellence: Spotlighting the NOJHL’s Top-Scoring Blue Liners

History was made in the NOJHL this February as Sudbury Cubs defenseman and CHE client, Spencer Horgan, officially became the highest-scoring defenseman in league history.

On February 12th, in a dominant performance against the French River Rapids, Spencer recorded his 212th career point, surpassing a record held by Noel Caya that had stood since the mid-1980s. What makes this feat even more incredible is the pace; Spencer reached this milestone in just 163 career games. As of February 28th, he continues to lead all league blueliners with 59 points in only 40 games this season.

His elite vision and offensive instincts have not only rewrote the record books but have earned him a well-deserved scholarship to Ontario Tech University for the 2026-27 season. Congratulations, Spencer, on a legendary Junior career!

Building a Culture of Excellence
While Spencer leads the way, we are incredibly proud to spotlight two other CHE clients who are dominating the blue line:

  • Braedyn Cyr (Timmins Rock): The Captain of the Rock currently sits 3rd in league scoring for defensemen with 43 points. His leadership and consistent production are a massive part of Timmins' success this year.

  • Braeden Begley (Powassan Voodoos): Only a freshman, Begley has made an immediate impact. Quarterbacking the Voodoos' power play, he has racked up 39 points and sits tied for 4th in scoring among D-men.

With three clients in the Top 4 of league scoring, it is clear that the modern, puck-moving defenseman is thriving under the CHE banner. Keep up the historic work, gentlemen!
