CHEL 2021
CHE RED WINS THE CUP
2021 CHE League Champions
Entering the playoffs in the fourth seed, CHE Red came in as a clear underdog, although the team had been picking up steam with 5 wins in their last 6 games.
Lead by great performances from goaltender Andrew Reid ( 69SV, .869 SV%), Taye Ladislao (3G, 1A), and Jacob Budney (3A). CHE Red combined as a team for 12 goals on 46 shots.
In the quarters CHE Red beat CHE Light Blue 5-2, and would go on to topple league favourite Jozy in 3-2 in OT. Rolling into the finals off a sensational overtime goal, they faced off against CHE Blue.
At the 11PM final CHE Red faced off against CHE Blue, a team they had defeated just days earlier in the regular season. After two quick goals in the first period the team found themselves in the driver’s seat dictating the pace of the game. The second period would be just as close, but with lockdown defense from CHE Red combined with a stellar performance from Andrew Reid.
With a 4-2 victory over CHE Blue, CHE Red became the 2021 CHEL Champions.
Congratulations to CHE Red and an honourable mention to CHE Blue and all the teams that came out for a competitive five weeks of hockey.
